Release The Past And Let It Go
Rejection, fear, loneliness, loss, and struggle are some of life's most bitter pills. We would rather deny the pain than feel it. When you live in the past, you can't resolve your problems and enjoy the moment. You stay stuck in yesterday and struggle to move forward. This exercise will help you to let go of the past and create a space for new opportunities. In hindsight, it's easy to think you could have made a better decision. To me, there are no mistakes. Your soul chooses the unique circumstances and situations in your life as life lessons to make us stronger.
Grab a piece of paper and pen, and write a list of the things you've done in the past that you feel were mistakes. For example, "I left a good job." "I married the wrong person." "I didn't finish college." "I went out with the wrong crowd." "I missed an opportunity to earn more money". There may be several things on your list.
When you're finished, close your eyes and relax. Think of one thing on your list and remember the circumstances surrounding that particular event in your life. Why did you make the decision? Look at the whole situation with a 360 degree vision. What was your mindset at the time? Were you vulnerable? Were you confused? Who was involved? Did this person influence you? When you have looked at this situation from all angels, do you see any meaning in the mistake? What did you learn? How did you survive it?
Then in your mind's eye put that situation in a balloon. There is a string attached to the balloon, and the other end is attached to a part of your body. As the balloon begins to float away, the string pops off, and the situation that you have been holding on to goes with it. You feel a sense of relief. As the balloon soars into the heavens, it begins to fade from view. Take in a breath and say, "I release my past." Know that this mistake is no longer attached to you, and you are free to go on with your life in a new way.
Do as many situations as you'd like. Then sit in the silence of your own divine energy and know that there are no mistakes, only experiences that expand your soul and make you the person you are. You can always come back to your list at another time. When you've completed all the things on your list, tear it up and throw it away, or you can burn it outside to release all of the emotions tied to the situations.
